Terms of use

You own everything you write. We run a tool. Do not use it to break the law or to hurt anyone, and we will not claim your book.

You keep every right in what you write here, including copyright. We claim no ownership, no licence to publish it, no right to sell it, and no right to train a model on it.

We need one narrow, boring permission to operate: to store, copy and transmit your content insofar as running the service requires — saving it, syncing it between your devices, backing it up, and showing it to the collaborators you have added. That permission exists only to make the software work and ends when you delete the content.

At its default setting, Zibaldi will not write prose for your book. If you deliberately raise the dial to a level that drafts text, that is your decision, and you are responsible for what you then do with the result — including any disclosure a retailer, publisher or copyright office requires of you. We log AI activity so you can answer those questions accurately.

We do not warrant that AI output is accurate, original, or free of resemblance to other work. Check it as you would any research assistant.

Zibaldi quotes writers and describes methods they have publicly discussed, with attribution and a link to the source. That is reference and commentary. Zibaldi is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any writer, podcast or publisher named in it, and names appear to credit whose method is whose. Quotations remain the property of those who said them.

Sign-in is by magic link, so keep control of your email address — anyone who can read your inbox can reach your account. You are responsible for who you invite to a workspace and what they can then see. Tell us promptly if you think someone has got in who should not have.

Do not use Zibaldi to infringe someone else's copyright, to produce material that sexualises children, to harass or threaten, or to break the law where you are. Do not attack the service, try to reach other people's workspaces, or resell access. Do not use it to generate work you then pass off in a market that forbids AI-generated text — that is between you and that market, but do not make us the instrument of it.

Zibaldi is early software. Features will change, some will be withdrawn, and things will occasionally break. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot bear to lose — the export exists for exactly that, and a local-first editor means you usually have a copy on your own machine already.

The service depends on Supabase, Cloudflare and Anthropic. If one of them has an outage, so do we, in whole or in part. We do not promise a particular uptime figure while the product is in beta, and we would rather say that plainly than publish a number we cannot honour.

Zibaldi is free during beta. If and when it becomes paid, we will say so by email well before anything is charged, and no existing account will be billed without an explicit, separate agreement to a price. Nobody gets charged by surprise.

You can stop and delete your account at any time. We may suspend an account that is breaking clause 06 or endangering the service, and where circumstances allow we will warn you first and give you the chance to export your work.

The service is provided as it is, without warranties beyond those the law will not let us disclaim. To the extent the law permits, our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months — which, during a free beta, is nothing. Some jurisdictions do not allow those limits, and where that is so, they do not apply to you.

We will email you before a material change to these terms takes effect. Continuing to use Zibaldi afterwards means you accept the revised version.
